I think everyone knows that we have finally become parents!!! Praise the Lord!!!! But, not everyone knows the events that lead up to the glorious day. We had to keep pretty quiet about a lot of things, which is often the case with adoption, so I was not able to post every time our profile was viewed or things like that. I did keep a little time line for myself so I could remember all that God did. So, here's that time line of how things went down. Don't worry, there will be another post with the details of the birth and all that good stuff. :)
September 16, 2013 - Was contacted by a friend who knew of a possible adoption. My friend told the birth mom about us and birth mom said she wanted to meet us.
Sep. 22 - Met birth mom.
Nov. 13 - Baby born and birth mom changed her mind.
Mid December - Our profile was viewed but we were not picked. Our profile was also sent up north. It came down to us and another couple so a coin was tossed. We lost.
January 3, 2014 - Our profile was sent to all the other agency branches.
Jan. 6 - Our home study is approved!
Jan. 17 - Profile sent to Georgia to be viewed.
Jan. 22 - We decided against having profile viewed by Georgia couple and had it pulled. Tough decision!
Jan. 24 - Profile is going to be viewed in a week by a local couple.
Jan. 31 - Profile viewed. Couple will think things over and get back to agency.
Feb. 3 - Not picked.
Feb. 11 - Profile viewed but birth mother is not ready to make a decision yet. Never heard back about this one.
Feb. 12 - Profile being viewed in a few days.
Feb. 19 - WE'VE BEEN PICKED!!! WE'VE BEEN MATCHED!!!! Baby is due late April. We are meeting birth mom next week. OMG!
Feb. 24 - Travel to meet birth mom.
Feb. 25 - Met birth mom. She's amazing! She's having a boy but we aren't going to tell anyone that and she gave us ultrasound pics! We feel like we have such a good connection and are freakin' excited!!! In celebration we went to Ikea before heading home and bought some sweet stuff for the nursery.
Mar. 11 - Lots of paperwork has been going on with the agency. I talk on the phone to our awesome social worker everyday. Seriously, everyday! We spent the past weekend telling all our friends and my Bible study group. So fun! Everyone is so excited and thrilled.
Mar. 12 - Baby shower planning!
Mar. 31 - Found out today that the baby will be born on 4/21!
Apr. 5 - My friend Kemi from our church threw us a baby shower today. So fun and such a blessing!
Apr. 6 - Family threw us a shower today at my mom's house. It was beautiful and so fun. Such a blessing to be so loved and supported by so many.
Apr. 11 - Last day at my job! Going to spend the next week deep cleaning and organizing my house.
Apr. 20 - Easter Sunday. Our church family prayed over us this morning in church as we are leaving today to travel. Lunch with the family who also spent some time in prayer over us. Very special time. We left late afternoon and started the trip.
Apr. 21 - The day we have been waiting five years for!!!! (More to come on that.)
